I think Say You Will was an unusually strong showing from
both artists. Each one contributed a clunker... in Lindsey's case it was
What's The World Coming To and for Stevie it was
Silver Girl. But otherwise, I think they recorded some great stuff, with a broad range from both songwriters. Lindsey probably recorded his most artistic Mac tunes since Tusk, and
Illume was Stevie's most avant garde song since
Gold Dust Woman. I may pick on Say You Will for it's lack of continuity & manic nature, but that doesn't mean Stevie & Lindsey contributed poor material by any means.

Really, the soap opera people keep referring to in this thread is, at present, VERY fan-generated in many ways. I mean, I get the frustration and irritation right now, I do, but a little breath in between diminishing whatever member you feel annoyed by on any particular day wouldn't do any harm... |
To me, Tusk was Stevie's peak. I think it contains some of the best songwriting and even singing of her career. Same for Christine. Lindsey did some very interesting experimenting on Tusk, but did he or Chris or Stevie outshine each other on that album? I really don't think so. I think they were all pretty much at their best.
