Yes, they said John came in and put down some bass lines already.
While Christine has described in the past how Stevie would hang around being a pest because she wanted to sing and they weren't ready to sing and they had to say "not yet" to her, I think her being there helps with the song arrangements. It's like SYLM which they mentioned on the Today show. Christine (gooseflesh) has always described how she walked in with that song and Stevie and Lindsey just began singing harmonies automatically. It was instantaneous. And that kind of magic happening is what they want Stevie for. It's like taking a balloon and blowing it up so it is full and buoyant, creating something out of nothing. Hearing all 3 of them working on something, sounding it out, probably helps form a song and then once the structure is there, then she can disappear, while they work on the music.
