I would also say that I think another part of the problem in Lindsey's past wasn't negative per se. It was anti-social, like someone who might have Asperger's. His focus was so single-minded that you couldn't shoot the breeze with him about anything. You couldn't socialize, because he had no life.
There's a video of him strumming a guitar while Richard and others are having a conversation with him and his interests are very single-minded and isolated. I think he was like that a lot, based on Stevie's complaints about him when they lived together.
The whole band got tired of his intense concentration. I get the impression he was someone who might have been at last night's party with you, but if you thought you were going to talk to him about it the next day you were wrong. The next day he'd be giving you a treatise on making the guitar sound like a violin.
