And she WOULD be hopping around the stage if she still could. She used to do that. Leaping and jumping and twirling and running, sometimes as part of a song and sometimes just as a result of natural exuberance. The only thing she chooses is her footwear. Different (less attractive) shoes might accommodate her physical limitations more and give her more endurance and I would welcome those, ugly reeboks or not. But in the end, arthritis or osteoporosis has impacted her a bit.
For one-off appearances she's more her old self, she moves and sings differently, when she knows she won't have to sustain that for dozens of shows. But when she knows it's a long tour, she's got to reserve her resources and not take risks.
She can't be a whirlwind physically. It's not like what she does is a choice and not as if what Lindsey is doing is different from what he's
always done in FM. I can find 35 year old reviews talking about his crazy energy, just like they talk about it today. He can do what he used to do for 2-3 hours (and I guess goes comatose after) and Stevie can't do what she used to do. He didn't
just decide to do it to steal her thunder. He's always been doing it. She used to do it.
