I can agree with you on those 3 examples, throw in The Breeders, Pixies, Ivy, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs and we have a deal. I personally think though that there's a fine line between indie bands and hipster noisy nonsense (by that I mean all those different bands who look and sound the same who all play the same songs that just drone on and mesh together) with the beards and the plaid shirts (Not that I'm knocking plaid because I own a few myself but I don't wear it as a statement to define my music.), they're two totally different genres if you will. I'm all for indie bands, just not the hipster nonsense. If that makes any sense
