Deep Space Nine was beautifully written. There was a religious theme running through the series and a lot of it had to do with ones destiny. Deep Space Nine was located in deep space beside a worm hole. The worm hole and the beliefs about it affected Bajorian culture, as it would any culture. There was a mystical quality about it. Eventhough the Bajorians were technically superior to us, they remained superstitious and petty and strong... alot of the relgious hiearchy were corrupt. Sorta reminds me of the new Battlestar Galatica, which was great.
It was just complicated and deeper than the other series. I named my dog after Major Kira. She was a great character, more important than Sisco I think.
Unfortunately, the last year of it petered out. Still, the first years were heaven.
