But yeah she always seemed very lonely to me, which is funny as she seems to have come from a loving family. But maybe that's the thing, once she left her parents she couldn't really get used to not having their support. Sometimes I think she fills her life up with things to distract her from her loneliness.
But this is total armchair psychology and speculation-next-to-gossip.

She was like, "And when our relationship started to go bad, I looked elsewhere," or something similar.
I don't recall her mentioning that she was lonely (although she very well might have been), just that she was so terribly unhappy.
