Lazy journalism! Writers just reiterate and perpetuate these old notions for dramatic effect. I'm curious to know why Tusk, in particular gets such prominent wrath? Certainly there are many other artists' albums more rightfully deserving of that!

Perhaps it's because the album was intensely anticipated after the huge success of Rumours. When the album defied popular expectations, and sales figures didn't match the unreasonable amounts of their previous album, it was universally deemed as a failure, seemingly serving as a prime example of what a band should not do.

Tusk was one the boldest move ever made in the history of Fleetwood Mac. It's taken a long time for critics (and some fans) to warm up to it and understand it for what it is and what it represents. It's the dark horse that has garnered new-found respect decades after it's release. Lots of people (including popular musicians) are still intrigued by it.

Art is sucessful when it provokes disparate reactions. Tusk succeeds on that level.
