To be fair, Mariah Carey is an amazing singer. I'm not a fan, but to deny her talent would be foolish. She has sold 68,900,000 albums in the US alone since 1991. (source:

It is possible that this won't happen again, yes, but there have been hundreds of incredible albums released since 1990. I bet Nirvana's Nevermind could do it. I'd be willing to bet that even Madonna's Ray Of Light could chart in the top 40 if re-released as a four disc box set with a DVD and vinyl copy of the album.
Hell, I'd even say that Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, Radiohead and U2 reissues would chart if re-released as deluxe box sets. Though maybe not in 36 years!
