Fleetwood Mac, a group with some experience in internal band politics, makes its Jazz Fest debut in 2013. The band's most recent New Orleans performance was at the New Orleans Arena in June 2009; guitarist Lindsey Buckingham performed a solo show at the French Quarter nightclub One Eyed Jacks in August 2012. The current incarnation of Fleetwood Mac includes Buckingham, drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie and vocalist Stevie Nicks, all of whom date to the band's mid-'70s classic period.
They typically don't perform at festivals. But music mogul
Irving Azoff, the band's co-manager, attended the 2012 Jazz Fest with another of his clients, the Eagles. Fleetwood Mac's other manager, Howard Kaufman, manages Jazz Fest veteran Jimmy Buffett. Their familiarity with Jazz Fest helped grease the skids for Fleetwood Mac's appearance.
