Why oh why, every time a new tour happens, does the previous tour - which at the time they claim is fun/fresh/a celebration - get 'outed' as miserable/difficult?

Probably because when they're on tour, they don't want to tell you they're having a horrible time because why would anyone want to go see them if that was the case?
I think moreso the insinuation this time around has been that Unleashed just wasn't very
fun or exciting - they did the same easy boring thing every night. She and Lindsey apparently weren't interested enough in each other to portray any tension or drama or affection. I think that's what she's getting at with the grilled cheese statement: that was the extent of their conversations. Nothing terribly emotional was going on either way (good or bad), it was very casual, which led to it being kind of a drag and just "going through the motions."
