On the one hand, I agree with this. The pace that Lindsey has been playing it recently really drags the song down, literally. It feels like it's in slow motion, and every syllable is held out and emphasized and I personally find it quite tiresome.
That said, I think earlier live versions that were more up-tempo were truly awesome. The versions with John on acoustic bass especially really gave it something neat. The song
can be incredible live - it's really a shame.
