happened with DC - went down after nobody bought the initial round... so people bought a bunch... which drove TM to offer more and prices went back up to more ridiculous.

Now, you've got me all flustered. Do I assume that no one will buy the California shows at those prices and hope Ticketmaster will knock them down in a couple of days or will people buy them at these $2000 prices and will I be out in the cold, standing on the street corner hoping I get a glimpse of a FM limo as they enter the concert venue that I can't attend?
Obviously, if a fan buys at outrageous prices and then they go down a few hours later, it will only add to one's depression. Better to pay through the nose, but know that was all that was available and be able to justify it to yourself.
No, actually I will say that fluctuation is a good thing. Lots of times with Stub Hub or Barry's Tickets, you see the tickets sitting there and they are NOT selling, but they won't lower the prices. If they DO lower them, they wait until just a few days before the concert to do it, but mostly they don't. They will leave those tickets unsold rather than change the pricing. At least Ticketmaster isn't doing that and moves with the market -- well, once you ignore the fact that the tickets are 10x overpriced in the first place.
