I haven't watched that 1987 footage in ages. I remember loving it too. Unfortunately, I think it's become an example of some of Stevie's 1980's mistakes: all close-up, all the time (the hair doesn't even match the long shots), overdubbed and enhanced vocals (she sounds like Robo-Stevie), and she doesn't even spin!!!
A much better live performance captured on film is very recent, her Standback from Soundstage is brilliant:

I think in a lot of cases the first version of a song we really fall in love with is the one that sticks with us. A lot of long time Stevie fans aren't so crazy about the Tango era live Stand Back but for Longview it might be the recording they really got into.
I love the Fleetwood Mac Live version of Rhiannon. As much as everyone touts the Rosebud footage or the Midnight Special appearance it was this Tusk era recording that really hit me like a ton of bricks. And to this day it still gives me goosebumps. And there is just something about that time weathered vocal, not quite so high and youthful yet not at the point where they had to rework the arrangement. It's so full of power. And the way she sings the "Once in a million" chorus with a slightly different melody than before gives it a little more depth and color. And when she reaches the crescendo towards the end with "all the same, all the same, Rhiannon" is less like a storm and more like a full on monsoon. It's just so amazing.
