If Stevie and Lindsey spent enough time together and worked on their harmonies like I'm assuming they used to ~back in the day, then I think they are very capable of creating that same great sound they used to [albeit a few keys lower
]. Because you're exactly right - it's all about timing and pitch, and you've got to have an intuitive knowledge of the person you're singing with so you can match their tone, pronunciation, inflection, everything, and stay with them.
Years in small vocal ensembles doing mostly a capella pieces taught me that.
