I remember we had a similar discussion back in the mid 90's (when the Ledge was just basically 1 board) on this topic, wow time flies
Anyway if I remember correctly the guitar solo on the longer versions is simply a splice and repeat. So nothing we haven’t heard previously in the song was removed. I remember being able to hear the point of the splice but it has been awhile and my Box Set is in storage so I can't confirm for 100% but I think that was it.
Anyway, regardless it is a very odd thing to edit it that way.
