You're right, parents get too out of control with their kids' names being spelled different. Do you know how confusing that is for people? "Oh, it's not Jennifer, it's Jeniffer????" (I've seen someone with MY name butchered that way--I spell it Jennifer) If you're going to name your kid something common, spell it that way. If you want originality, name them something original, make up a name, etc.

Another good example--the "Chris" names for girls (Christine, Christina, Crystal, Christa, Kristen, Kristy, etc.) can all be spelled in a zillion different ways.

I have too much time on MY hands now because it is Friday, half my office is gone and my job is boring anyway
