Okay, I've thought of this and actually did this a few times for people. I would just do 1 playlist/CD's worth as a introduction, making sure you include at least one song for each primary member and the major albums from Fleetwood Mac '68 till Say You Will.

• Primary members: Peter, Jeremy, Danny, Welch, Christine, Lindsey, Stevie, and Billy
  
  
• Major albums: self-titled '68, Then Play On, Kiln House, Bare Trees, Mystery to Me, FM '75, Rumours, Tusk, Tango, BTM, and Say You Will.
  
  
• Find out what exactly about music he or she likes, i.e. male or female singers, guitar or keyboard heavy, drums/bass, harmonies?
  
  
• Sub in a few album versions with awesome live versions from the Dance, etc. Make sure to get some collaborations songs in there, World Turning, The Chain, Love is Dangerous, etc. Choose uptempo "rock out" type songs along with the slower more "soft rock" type FM songs.
  
  
• Stick away from demo/alternate versions...too hard to explain to a FM "newbie". No solo songs!
  
  
• Do the list/CD in chronological order so that they can see the bands progression over the years.
