i've posted this one before when it happened, but it was ended up being such a dope experience for me and i was just commenting about it in a previous thread that i thought i'd re-share it.

so, i wanted to post my Amoeba/Stevie Nicks experience!

first things first: i'm sort of a "newb" in comparison to most of the folks here on this board, and probably in comparison to the majority of the other folks who were at the signing as well, but i discovered Stevie and Fleetwood Mac about umm... 9 weeks ago now?

i'd bought the 2 disc FM Best Of... when i was in college back in 2002 because I lived in a house of girls who just were bat-sh** in love with FM and after buying it, for whatever reasons, I don't think I really listened to it, i just didn't get into it at the time.

anyhow, cut to the middle of June of 2011, and I'm now living in los angeles. I went to my parents house to visit, and my brother had placed my old CD's in the middle of my bedroom for me to clean or get rid of. the first CD on top of that pile was that "Best Of FM..." and me, being me, thought: "Oh! I should bring this back to my apartment and download it onto my external hard drive. One never knows when this music might come in handy..." and on my drive to my apartment, I started listening to it, and it's basically been obsession-ville ever since. when i say obsession-ville, btw, i mean that in the most intense (but not scary) way possible.

a week into my obsession, i saw on youtube this posting by SuperFleetwoodMac of the 1982 Mirage Tour of Sisters of the Moon(LaserDisc), and it was EPIC. i kept looking for more current performances of the song and couldn't find any, but it didn't really matter much because that performance was so awesome. i think i literally watched that performance at least once a day for WEEKS. told anyone who would listen to me talk about it, would show it to people (strangers, even). i mean, i couldn't believe that people rocked like that back then - she was so "tapped in" during that performance of that song, and it was just inspirational for me, and made me want to be as emotionally available in what *I* do.

anyhow, so of course, the signing happens, and i just had to be there. i met a bunch of awesome people, and one guy told me about this board, and it was actually really cool getting to obsess with people who shared my obsession.

when it was my turn to go and have her sign my CD, i'd had my post-it in the middle page with the 4 images of her, and Stevie says: "Well, looks like Kim knows what she wants!" and i replied: "I sure do!"

right before she started to sign my CD, i'd just really wanted to talk to her about that specific performance, and i knew of no slick way of bringing it up so i just blurted out: "I just want you to know that your 1982 performance of Sisters of the Moon from the Mirage Concert Tour absolutely blows my mind!"

she looked up from the CD at me and smiled, she then looked over at the girls to her left, and said "You know, it's funny that you mentioned that, because I did an interview with Jim Ladd a couple of days ago and he brought up thatexact performance of that song as well..."

"Really?" and of course, i'm hardcore freaking out because it's happening. we're talking about SOTM, and i'm dying inside because i'm just so thrilled.

"Yeah," she continued. "we were listening to the song, and it's a good one!"

"I know!" i replied.

"You know, I don't know why we don't do that song anymore..."

"Oh, why not? you totally should!" the idea of her performing that song live now? oh, holy sh*t!

"Well, some songs just fall out of rotation, you know?" She then finished signing my CD, and then doodles a little bit on the front of the CD cover, and hands it back to me. takes my hand in hers and very sincerely says "Thank you so much."

i curtsey, because how else does one respond to a queen? and said: "No, thank you! Absolutely, thank you!"

and then i left. the experience was more than i'd hoped for.
