I still have my 8 Track tapes.Tons of them,Plus dozens and dozens of players and recorders.I'm a electronics geek.

What killed 8 tracks off was you can't rewind,Tape cross talk from other tracks,Low Fi sound quality,Tape breaking.Tape jamming.Figure the tape speed at 3 3/4' inches pes second .you think 8 track should have better sound quality .No. Due to small tape head gap in order to get all 8 tracks on tape which the gap is a size of a pin head.cassette's took over in sound quality plus the extra added features.Cassette tape speed runs at 1 7/8 IPS.Hum with better sound quality with a bigger tape head gap.

I've lost count on FM Rumours 8 track copies.I got most of FM albums on 8 tracks.I would like to find more Stevie 8 tracks.I got some of her albums on 8 track tapes.Wildheart,Belladonna come to mind now.I think by the time Rock a Little was released .8 tracks were plased out altogether

The rest of my collection is Country, rock, pop,R&B,Holiday tunes and self recorded tapes.

More info.

Also remember those Ktel ad's mentioning 8 track at the end for $7.99.

Columbia House record and tape club

Tomorrow I got to go down to Radio Shack to buy one of these.LOL...

They probably say "What in the hell is an 8 track player"

This video is for those of you like to know how a 8 track works.Maybe boring to some of you.
