Maybe we need to ask the older fans about this...
As for me, I became a fan during the Dance, so I didn't have a "favorite" but did discover that the Stevie who sang Landslide, Dreams, etc also sang that "one" wing dove song and the lalalalalalala song (Stand Back). I was like, COOL! and then became a Stevie Nicks fan after becoming an FM fan. I also bought Chris's solo album and got a copy of OOTC from my uncle. When SYW came out and the tour started, I was excited to see them ALL together as a band, interacting...at that point I had only seen Stevie, never her with FM...although I missed seeing Christine a lot. That was a real bummer, even though I am a huge FM fan. I really liked seeing Lindsey (not just because he's hot!) and if FM toured without Stevie, I would go.
I am...a diehard fan.
