Agreed. Based on what Lindsey has said in recent times, his reasons for wanting to continue working with Stevie are psychological rather than musical, which undoubtedly makes him much more accommodating to her.

I'm not so sure this is a given. It's possible, but is it necessarily likely?
I also want to touch on the "outside producer" idea that band members and fans bring up. One of you guys posted a print interview recently in which Lindsey clarified what I've been saying: an outside producer wouldn't necessarily be someone who orchestrates the tracks. Lindsey doesn't intend to come into the studio, lay down his guitar & vocal tracks on command, and then go home, while someone else does all the painstaking track work (including mixing). That will never happen. So the outside producer won't prevent the musical disagreements between Stevie and Lindsey.
The producer would be there mainly to serve as a go-between: as the guy who keeps meetings on track, who keeps budgets on track, who keeps schedules on track, and who oversees
business decisions. He's not going to tell Lindsey what sort of effects to put on Stevie's vocal. Lindsey is going to continue to flange or phase her lead vocal, which will in turn lead to the same fights we've seen in every previous decade.
