Actually, he'd hate it and I'd venture to guess that the scenario you suggest above would go over like a lead balloon.
Lindsey is probably the most "over" FM than anyone else in the band. Why would he care about re-inventing it? As someone else pointed out, their days of re-inventing themselves with new band members are over. They're too old and it's too late in the day.
