I think a huge part of it is Lindsey's unwavering reluctance to embrace what made him famous. He wants nothing to do with what he doesn't consider arty. I think it drives the rest of them crazy. I also think it's a huge part of why mama was so pissed for the Say You Will record/tour. I think everyone was on eggshells because they were afraid he might run off again and in the end the result suffered.
