Relationship abuse is something that we're more aware of and less accepting of than we were some 30+ years ago. Stevie and Lindsey were in a relationship in the late 60s/early 70s....its quite *possible* that there was physical abuse but at that time it was something that "just happened".

Yes, I agree that aspect has been under-emphasised. I could draw a diagram of women I know and plot on it all the ones who've ever been abused by a man, as it would be understood today, and the frequency and correlation of abuse as the decades wound back would be very clear.
