KDKB-FM was in its infancy when Fleetwood Mac dropped by the Mesa studio to introduce its newest members, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
Dennis McBroom, an on-air personality at the time, recalls the scene:
"This was when Lindsey and Stevie were still known as Buckingham Nicks. And until Tucson picked it up later, we were the only station in Arizona that played their music.
"So it's Friday and I'm coming in to do a show. . . . In the hall, I see John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. . . . They wanted us to listen to their new album, entitled 'Fleetwood Mac.' Of course, it went on air that night, before it was released - before anyone else in the country could hear it.
"They brought it to us because they knew KDKB would not only be interested, but that we would play it Side A, Side B, track-to-track, all the way through, right now."
That was 1975, when the rock station (93.3) was in only its fourth year.
This month marks its 40th anniversary.
