All 23 Songs?
It has been documented that the double cd version of Say You Will would have had 23 songs...
I can speculate on all but 1 of the five that were cut 1. Love Minus Zero 2. Not Make Believe 3. I Am Waiting (as noted in Guitar Player Magazine) 4. Gift Of Screws (Guitar Player Mag) 5. ??? Anyone have any knowledge or ideas about the leftover songs? I wonder if we'll see them on import singles. Sure hope so. |
Space Needle?

Space Needle! Because you're wishing/hoping for it...or because is some feasible knowledge that they recorded it? (I hope the later is true!).

Well...
there could be any combination of songs that "could've" been on the album before it was reduced to a single disc. Here are a few others that were reportedly recorded:
The Singer Not The Song Mistaken Love All The Beautiful Worlds |
I wonder if "Love Minus Zero/No Limit" and "Not Make Believe" were ever truly intended for inclusion on the double-album.
They may not have made it to the list of 23 songs Fleetwood Mac wanted to release. Which could be why they were the only ones used on the bonus disc. Of course, this all just speculation. |
"Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind" was going to be in the album, according to Guitar World Acoustic.

Yes, "Love Minus Zero" must have intended to make the album since Lindsey recorded a studio version of it.

If "Love Minus Zero" and "Not Make Believe" were among the infamous 23, as well as "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind," "I Am Waiting," and "Gift Of Screws," the equal representation between Stevie and Lindsey would be off-balance (if we can believe Mick's earlier statement that the tracks on the double-album would be split evenly between the two). Plus, it leaves a question as to the "nod to the Rolling Stones" that was also mentioned in interviews last year. "The Singer Not The Song" is the one most fans speculate would have made the cut, but as chiliD has pointed out, the Rolling Stones also have a song called "I Am Waiting." So if the "I Am Waiting" that was mentioned in Guitar Player magazine is indeed a cover of the Rolling Stones tune, along with "Love Minus Zero," that would give us two cover songs on the album (presuming that none of the other Rolling Stones songs that Lindsey had worked on were among The 23). Which is why I tend to wonder if perhaps "Love Minus Zero" and "Not Make Believe" were "leftover" tracks, even beyond the five that weren't released on 'Say You Will.' If someone, somewhere, knows for certain what those remaining 5 songs were, PLEASE let us know so we can stop pulling our hair out trying to figure this out! |
Why not?
Stevie did hand a CD of 17 demos. I am sure Lindsey played around with most of the songs. In fact, I pretty sure they didn't recorded only 23 songs. I think overall that had about 35 songs to work with. |
Didn't Stevie write another song out of her 9/11 journal entries called "We Get Back on the Plane," or something like that....I thought I'd read in a recent interview that she said she wrote a bunch of 9/11 songs (not sure how many were recorded, though), but that they didn't want to use more than one 9/11 song on this album.

I assume they were never even considered to be recorded, if Stevie felt they were too depressing as poems. |
I'm talking about/looking for the actual songs that were fully recorded and were part of the official track listing for thedouble cd release. Not demos, poems, speculated songs, outtakes etc...
