You KNOW it's coming, so how can we make the best of it?
Whether the band continues after this tour or not, we are probably minutes away from Mick branching his greedy fingers into a movie version of the FM story. I can feel in my bones it's his next thing. I just hope it's not a telemovie that will rerun on the Lifetime channel.
Knowing full well that Mick will put Mr. Todd or an equivalent loser in charge of scripting and casting (can't you see Drew Barrymore as Stevie Nicks? ugh), let's have a go at it. Name and cast the movie. (I know, it makes me feel cheap & like I'm selling out, too, but Mick IS gonna do this thing with or without us.) I know the idea of casting has floated around the net for years, but last time I read fans were proposing Jenny Garth, Crystal Bernard, and Sally Struthers to play Stevie. So it's been awhile. I'd be fine with a plain title like THE CHAIN. I'm not fussing over physical resemblances or ages at this point: Chris - Meryl Streep or Nicole Kidman Lindsey - John Cusack Mick - John Malkovitch John - (help) Stevie - Anne Heche Lafoon (lol) I'll need to think about Stevie. And I'll probably change my mind abou t the others, too. Please do better. - Jake |
Hmmm this is quite difficult... interesting idea darklinen. :)
ok ... Chritine:Cate Blanchett Stevie: Winona Ryder (LOL hey, she's little...and she's got big eyes..) or maybe Kate Hudson ..might be too young Lindsey: Paul Rudd no idea for Mick and John yet. |
Stevie - Cate Blanchett (more for mystery than anything ellse), Renee Zellweger (she is so kewpie (sp.") doll-like and can sing), La Ryder is OK because she could have the look.
Christine - Cate Blanchett (probably better here than as Stevie), Kristen Scott Thomas, Emma Thompson John - anyone LB - Paul Rudd, John Cusak, and, I think, Tobey Maguire. Mick - Maggie Smith |

Mick - Hulk Hogan
I thought the idea of turning 'Rumours' into a West End play was band enough, but a film..... in the words of Junie B. Jones...."P.U.!" |
I am LOL at Tobey Maguire as Lindsey. Can't you see him trying to screech and act manic onstage! Paul Rudd would be a great choice.
I love the idea of either Cate or Emma as Christine - they both ooze coolness & sophistication. Glenn Close could work, too. A woman as Mick would be hilarious. She could borrow his RS cover cheerleading outfit. I could see Winona as Stevie only if it were dubbed. Stevie's hard to cast. It's funny that none of us has tried to cast John. This part could open doors for some lucky mute actor. - Jake |
Hey, Ben Stiller as Lindsey (with blue contacts) might work, too. He has the whole anger thing down.

I thought Xena (can't think of her real name) did a great job as Stevie in SNL. She looked like her and even sounded like her. Granted it was a parody, but I'm sure she could be serious if she tried.

I like Lucy Lawless, but they'd have to shrink her height and build for her to pull it off as Stevie in a serious film.

Ahhhhh, THIS thread again:
Lindsey: Rob Lowe Stevie: Meg Ryan Christine: Goldie Hawn John: Harry Shearer Mick: John Cleese |

Good one, Jake . . .  |
Helen Hunt would make an awesome Chris....
Don't know about the rest. Maria |
OR: Fleet-HOOD Mac
Stevie: Beyonce Knowles Christine: Alicia Keys Lindsey: Wyclef Jean John: Sean Puffy Combs Mick: Abraham Laboriel, Jr. |
I thought we had already decided years ago that Jason Patric was gonna be lindsey and genie francis (laura from general hospital) would be stevie.
I had a good one for chris before but i can't remember who it was now. John is a hard one but in al honesty he wouldn't have a major part cuz john has always been in the background anyways. And of course Mick already thinks he is a thespian so i am sure he would insist on playing himself. |
FM movie
Well, I would normally try and cast all 16 of 'em but in the spirit of this thread and since Mick would ignore the non Rumours people (well, maybe not PG but...) anyways, I'll just throw out some ideas for his "accepted five":
STEVIE: Nancy Allen LINDSEY: Aidan Quinn CHRISTINE: Helen Mirren JOHN: Jean Reno (or sometimes Dave Mason reminds me of JM so hmm...) MICK: Jonathan Pryce Hmm, I wonder what Mick would tell the screenwriter to write (as to how to hide the non BN members/lineups and/or imply that the non BN lineups/members existed? Maybe that would make a fun new thread?! Oh, well, I guess it's Reno for John then! :) ). John |
