Last night's dress rehearsal

Hmm....This is my first post in a looong time. Hopefully, it will show up.

I was lucky enough to be front row center for last night's show and I am happy to say it was AWESOME!! The band was in great form. They sounded and looked FANTASTIC!!

I think you've all seen the set list. I would just add that the new songs were terrific. Some of the older songs were a little boring.
Never Going Back Again was a real treat, as Stevie joined for harmonies. Eyes of the World was a highlight for me in that I've never seen Stevie so happy during a song.

I'd be happy to give more details about last night, but let me see if this even shows up in the right place.

Hey!

Your post showed up loud and clear..er, you know what I mean. ;)Fantastic you got to see the preview performance!

Thanks!

Did Stevie ever let loose during one of the songs? If so, which one(s)?

What song of the new ones came off best live?

Very curious about RTTG, too!

Is it cool to answer your own thread?

Well, I see my post showed up, although it did that funny line break in the middle of my paragraph.

Here are a few more details.....

Mick was driven to the show, looking very dapper in his vest and dark blue jeans. He stopped to sign a couple of autographs and chatted happily with fans. He is really friendly and outgoing.

Lindsey drove himself. He came dressed in his stage clothes--a white shirt and black pants. He is soooo thin. A strong gust will blow him away. He stopped to sign one autograph, even though he was late. (He made a comment about that.) He seemed very soft-spoken and gentle.

Didn't see the others arrive.

The atmosphere was very relaxed and low-key. It was catered with free drinks (!).

I ran into another Ledgie who recognized me from a meeting years ago (!). A night of surprises, indeed.

The band came out after a brief introduction by a man I didn't recognize.

Maybe I should stop here--do messages still get cut off if they are too long?

What was Come like?

Rainman 04-27-2003 11:44 AM

Yay

This is great news.

Thanks for letting us know, SlvrSprgs.

More details--longer this time

Stevie wore her usual layered black dress with black platform boots. She looked as thin as I've ever seen her. The dress it pretty up close, even if I've seen it before. She changed tops and shawls throughout the show.

John wore his usual Hawaiian shirt. Mick was in breeches and vest, Lindsey in white shirt (unbuttoned to naval) and black jeans.

They did not speak much during the show. Lindsey made a puzzling speech about circles at one point, but that was it for substantive conversation.

The band was on key and in fine voice. I thought Stevie and Lindsey both sounded wonderful. With all this talk about them being off-key and screaming lyrics, I was expecting something terrible. Stevie's voice was rich and she seemed to be hitting more of those higher notes than ever. Lindsey did not sound rough at all--he was great.

Stevie smiled a lot during the show--particulary during Eyes of the World, which included the most dancing by her. Lindsey was rocking hard on the guitar. During "Come," he broke a guitar string. (That song earned a standing ovation, btw.)

The audience stood for most of the classic songs and sat for most of the new songs. As I mentioned, "Come" got a standing ovation. "Peacekeeper" and "Say You Will" also seemed to get a good reception. It was quieter during "What's the...," "Say Goodbye," "RTTG," and "Destiny Rules." I thought the new songs were GREAT and I hope they are given a chance on tour.

I was surprised to not hear "Thrown Down" and "Everybody Finds Out."

"Goodbye Baby" was a lovely song--it seemed to make Stevie sad, though. She did smile a little at the very end. BTW, when she came out for this last encore, she looked EXHAUSTED. It was very obvious. Mick came over and gave her a word of encouragement. At the end of the song, Lindsey came and gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek. (Sweet moment.)

misterbug 04-27-2003 01:15 PM

what was the audience size?

and how was RTTG live? i'm hoping they keep this one--it's one of my faves on the album, and it seems like it would rock live.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Has RTTG lost the 80s sound for the live performance? It's a good song with Stevie sounding great, but that has started to bother me a bit.
