Smile At You grown on anyone?

It has me. I hated it at first, having heard the so called "angry" version - which I do still prefer.

I think the grammatical error in the chorus is actually fine... It's kind of like a dream, so it's not so bad when you muddle words up like that.

It's not the stand out track it could have been, but I can appreciate it now. I love the guitar part at the end. Stevie sounds good, and you can't accuse Lindsey of not trying something different. It may sound better as a follow up to Come, and lead to Running Through The Garden as well.

I did/do not like the demos. I thought she screamed too much in them. But - hey that is apparently why many like them

I do, however, like the finished product, esp. what I assume is LB's taking this song into a more formal format with a chorus, etc., which was absent in the demos. The only thing I wish she/they would have done is to have kept some of the lyrics she/they omitted, esp. the "fly to your castle in the sky" one. I think that one could have been sort of "whispered" in the end along with "go on save yourself - leave the key here" sort of like she did in Sara with dreaming, swallow all of your pride, etc.

This song is great. No question. But the grammatical error bugs me no end. Sorry. It always will.

It's okay, but I prefer the demo version. I can't believe they made the album version all soft and quiet at the end. This is an ANGRY song, and I really miss the "flaming, flaming...castle in the sky" part.

Let's hope Lindsey gets rid of the overused 80's sounding keyboards on RTTG....

No, it has not grown on me... So far it's the song that I like the least from the ones that we already known on Say You Will. I mean the "record", as opposed to the "song", which is, of course, great.

Song of the moment - Little Lies

I am so not in the loop on this, I only heard the first like quarter of the song, but did like it...

Now I've heard many many people refer to a grammatical error...what is it? I didn't hear enough to catch it, and haven't heard/read what specifically it is....

I was kind of stunned when I first heard the new version and didn't quite like it. It has definitely grown on me.. as I find myself singing this song all the time. I can't get it out of my head.

I didn't care for her vocals the first few times I heard it, but upon numerous listens, Lindsey's production and guitar work has won me over, despite my STILL not liking the way she sings it. And, being that there's not one of Stevie's "demos" (of ANY song) that, to my ears, is listenable, this completed version is quite good by comparison.

I couldn't hear the grammatical error until I heard the higher quality Fleetwoodmac.com version. At first I agreed with you - a totally horrific grammer blunder. However, I began to think the lyrics may be "....ran as fast as I came." Still not the best grammer, but at least it's past tense. Also, as far as I know, no offical lyrics have ever been printed. I just cannot believe that FM would make such a blunder.

Um...only have to go back to Behind The Mask and Christine's "Skies The Limit"...

...grammatically correct, it would be "Sky's The Limit".

I completely agree!

I do miss the "FLAAAAAAAAAAAMIN'" at the end and the "fly to your castle in the sky". It would have been nice to have that added at the end.

However, I do like the finished product. I think Lindsey did an excellent job with the arrangement.

I liked it from the first time I heard it, I've generally liked all of the songs I've heard from the album, so I'm really looking forward to hearing these live....! They should do a nice big juicy set.....loads of classics and loads of new stuff!:D

Isn't it "ran as fast as I CAN"?

estranged4life 04-04-2003 09:56 PM

Well...

even though I enjoy the demos, I just can't get into this new version...

And I hate to say it's probably because of Stevie's vocals on the demos...Brian "Y'all need any Beatles music?" J.
