FM On The Today Show - April 18th - Still ON?!

FM is supposed to be on the Today Show on April 18th and I'm wondering if it is still on? I am planning to go to NY and see them perform. If they are going for what Soringsteen did then they will perform outside. I wanna be able to get up close.

Anyone else planning on going to see em?

I was considering it myself, but is there any way to make sure they are actually going to be at the studio and that it isn't just going to be a taped segment from some entertainment reporter at another location? Anyone know for sure?

my *guess* is that they're performing outside. i think the today show usually has a concert every friday morning--and the 18th is a friday. i don't see why they'd make it indoors, when an outdoor mac concert would be such a big draw. i was thinking of going too.

how many songs do bands usually perform on these today show concerts.

last summer one of my friends saw shakira's today show appearance. her set consisted of three songs.

they usually do 3 songs throughout the show...actually from what ive heard they do more than 3 but only 3 are broadcasted

When Bekka was on "Today" last October with Faith Hill, there were 3 songs aired (and it was outdoors, as said above by someone else, there probably were more songs done out on the street but 3 were aired anyways). As the show that day was one of the ones where it went from 7-9 and then from 10-11 AM (EST) the first two songs were at the very end of the 7-9 segment and then the third song was at the end of the 10-11 segment. Tricky, but at least if we get the WHOLE show on tape we'll have it preserved. :)

Be careful about when you choose to go... these are usually taped segments. My wife and I saw Sheryl Crow last summer in front of Trump Tower. She was scheduled to be on the Early Show (CBS) the NEXT Friday, but they taped the concert portion a week ahead of time. She did five songs and they aired two of them.

It isn't the 18th?

If the billboard.com info is correct, and so is the rockontv.com info, then, to me anyway, it looks like they will be featuring FM every day that entire week, an interview w/ Stevie on 4/17, and a band performance on 4/18.

Well, I am leaving @ 10:30 PM on Thursday to go stand and wait for them to play @ 8:30 the next mourning. LOL, wish me luck and hopefully I will be right there.

Still Debating....

Not sure if I feel like dealing with two 10 year olds in the wee hours of the morning, bound to be tired and cranky, and with only one who shares my taste in music!

I did hit Asbury Park this past summer at 4 am with one kid to watch Springsteen on Today - that was really cool, got some fabulous pictures, made some friends, and had a great time. The space is much tighter up at Rockefeller Plaza and it's supposed to rain on top of it. Am I just getting to be an old fart?!? sheesh, 10 years ago, I wouldn't have even thought twice!!

I think the Mac will be there for sure tomorrow. Matt Lauer stated that he hopes the fans will come to see the Mac when they perform in the Plaza on Friday. But I don't know what they do if it rains . . .

SmthngOfADreamr 04-17-2003 08:24 AM

I'm going rain or shine. I'd be too angry with myself if I missed it! Does anyone have an recommendations as to what time you should arrive?
