Anyone else feel screwed by the fan club??

Well, I don't know about you all, but I didn't even get a chance at tickets through the fan club. Oh, I paid my $60 alright, but my password won't work at the ticketmaster site. I have been trying for three hours to call the fan club number that they gave us in the email - and guess what? You can't even leave a message because the mailbox is full!

Hey, I understand all the disclaimers about not getting guaranteed "exquisite" seats, but we were promised at least a CHANCE to get seats.

Anyone else having problems with their password? My guess is alot, since the fanclub voicemail is already full and has been for a few hours. . . .

This was posted on a list I am on:

I called ticketmaster and they told me that whoever is in charge of the fan club has emailed out a ton of invalid passwords for the presales.

Oh, My God!!!! This is ridiculous - I saved all this cash to buy tickets today and I can't even buy them.

I wonder how they are going to explain this one???

Travis 03-13-2003 01:21 PM

Well

From what I read, everyone who joined the fan club and tried to get "good" seats today during the pre-sale got majorly screwed. I don't think anyone is too happy right now. There was one post I read where this person claimed to have gotten front row dead center for the OH show. Which I find very odd since no one else even got offered within the first 20 rows (was that what the fan club promised). So who knows. I'm sorry for those that wasted their money on the fan club.

Me, well I'm gonna buy my tix the old fashioned way (when they go on sale to the general public) and hope for the best.

My password worked just fine.

However, I DO feel screwed. I logged onto Ticketmaster and bought my tickets at exactly 9:00am and the seats I got were absolute ****.

Whatever happened to the idea of "special presale decent/good seats" for all us loyal and dedicated fans.

If they were going to go through all the trouble of setting this up and blocking off a certain area of seats, why do I now have tickets where I'm still going to need a good pair of binoculors to see anything.....

Whatever. At least I have tickets. If I find out that the set list for the tour is the same old **** ("Rhiannon", "Dreams", "Go Your Own Way", "I'm So Afraid"), then I'll just sell my tickets to someone who wants to see a greatest hits/oldies tour.

mpoday 03-13-2003 01:59 PM

I think that the good seats were available for Worcester. My problem was that the TM link didn't change to "find tickets" from "more info" until 12:15. At 12:07 I clicked "more info" out of frustration, and it brought up the page where you choose tickets. I got 16th row :07 min after onsale, which seems reasonable. I held that seat and looked for others, and I got various other floor seats, but nothing closer.

Oh, no one has any idea how extremely pissed off I am right now. I got on at exactly 12:00 (which is when the sale started here) and I didn't get in even the first 15 rows. All they kept offering me was the igloo club box seats that are a side view of the stage which I DON'T want (this is Mellon Arena). I think I'm like, 20 rows back, and THIS is what was offered to me within the first five minutes! What the Hell happened to the 20% BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE?!?!? Yeah, I feel majorly ripped off, and I will be emailing the fan club to tell them this.

Mad4stevie 03-13-2003 02:54 PM

Unbelieveable

OH, the is just great - ebay has tickets on sale now in section 2, row 16 (right up front and center) for the Philly show. Now you know the scalpers got into the fan club :distress:

mbr33 03-13-2003 03:05 PM

I won't be convinced that the scalpers got the tickets from the Fanclub since the scalpers ALWAYS got good seats even before the fanclubs were around. Now maybe they did take advantage of this new way of scalping, but I don't think the fanclub had the goods to provide us in the first place.

Something stinky down there at Ticketmaster like there always has been.

Take a look at this!!!!!

Posted on Mick's site:

I can see by the board that there are comments cutting both ways about the presale. In response to one person posting that they actually got first row seats, a board member, Jennifer, made the following comment. I want to share our thoughts about this, the presale in general so far, and tips about how to play the "ticketmaster" game.

That's wonderful, but I have been reading all kinds of terrible stories about people that weren't so lucky. It seems that there were definitely things that went wrong and I have no idea what I'm going to do when it's my turn to buy tickets for the 2nd leg of the tour. Just because you got great tickets, look around this board and see that the system did fail. I'm happy for you. Jennifer

Many of you here received "Dream Tickets", first row center, 10th row, etc while others have not. Please note that the number of this board's members who are also Fan Club members is very small. There are thousands of fans who are Club members and have never been to this board. So while many of you got front/center here, there are also fans getting the same great seats that we don't hear about on the board. We've been viewing the purchases and confirming that these tickets are really going to our Club members. In fact, I can't find a single case where there is a ticket sold to a non-member.

There are no big system failures that we know of other than some ticketmaster markets opening before 9:00 PST and some slow rollout of sections at Staples Center. The first case appears to be an honest error on TM's part. The second is an honest systemic problem that is now corrected at Staples. The size of the systems we're dealing with here is huge. While an individual member may be impacted by this the "system" is working. If you didn't get what you want - Please try to log in again! You may find a new section available that has great seats.

How can you log on at 9:00 am - get a bad selection, then do better in 10 minutes? The Ticketmaster system lets you select and HOLD the best in your category while making your sale. If 400 members come on at 9:00 am and grab a hold for 4 tickets each, that's 1,600 seats in a venue. At that moment, the 1601st seat shows for you. Meanwhile 200 seats get released when the earlier buyer decides they are too expensive or they only want two or they are too inexpensive!

The Fan Club offers a block of reserved seats that are great and then the general public seats before the GP gets access on Saturday. HOW GOOD your seats are depends on when you sign in and how many others are fighting for those seats when you are trying to buy. The Fan Club value regarding tickets is that you're choosing with a very small group compared to the public onsale. While you may not get the seats you hoped for, the seats you get now should be better than what you would get if you went to the public onsale.

I hope this helps clarify a bit. There are a limited number of seats. The Club is the only way to beat the public to them, in most cases.

Warm Regards,

The Knight!

That is nuts!! No mention of problems with passwords - come on people!!! How can that not be a major problem???

rianbay1 03-13-2003 06:44 PM

BUT, if I remember right, the fan club stated that in most cases we would receive the BEST 20% of the house (rows 1 - 20 and some close side seats). I, at one point, was offered BALCONY seats. This is the BEST 20%?!?!?!?!?!? I also find it odd that ONLY ONE (????) person who posts on this board got 1st row.

Kinda similar...

I posted this on "Chit Chat" on Feb 26, 2003 and it seems kinda similar to whats happened today with the FM fanclub presale, So I decided to post it here:

Dixie Chicks Pre-Sales...A Ripoff???
My local NBC affiliate (KFOR Channel 4) showed an interesting (And yet familiar...) story tonite about the Dixie Chicks and how fans that joined their fan club were able to purchase "pre-sale" tickets for their upcoming May 20th show...And how it is somewhat of a rip-off!!!

For $30 a year you can join their fan-club which gives you access to purchase tickets in advance of their regular on-sale date, (Along with fan club extras like Screen Savers, A Fan-club "members only" Message Board (!!!), Contests & "Exclusive" behind the scenes access.)

Several Dixie Chicks fans were "miffed" when they found out all the pre-sale "Best seating" tickets that were promised to fan-club members, Were already sold-out, (Possibly (??) due to out-of-state fan club members who purchased the tickets), and they were not able to purchase any tickets to the show. (The regular on sale date is March 1st.)

The fans that were interviewed for the story seemed to feel they were "ripped-off" since they payed money and did not receive a ticket even though it was a supposed "perk" of the fan-club. These fans will now have to wait until Saturday March 1st to have a chance to purchase any remaining tickets for the show through their local ticket office.

The news story showed a clip of one fan who showed on her PC the Dixie Chicks fan-club only message board and a LONG post about how many fan-club members feel they were "taken" through the pre-sale ticket offering.

The local news reporter covering the story tried contacting the Dixie Chicks management and said that the "calls werent returned". However, The webmaster of their official website (which can be found on Yahoo.com) said the club does not offer refunds on fan-club memberships since the fans will still able to receive the extra benefits of their website...

The Knight's arguments couldn't hold water even if it was filling as fast as Niagara Falls flows. First of all, if you are dealing with a huge amount of people, at $60 a pop, GET MORE STAFF TO HANDLE IT! Second, I highly doubt that so many people were ahead of me getting tickets that I could get no better than what I got. I repeatedly asked for FLOOR seats and TM kept offering me Igloo Club seats. I was on exactly at the time of sale, and at that moment I was offered I think 13 rows back. By mistakenly thinking that there was some sort of error because the fan club "had secured the 20% best seats," and considering the time I went for them, I thought there had to be better there. That's when I kept getting Igloo offers, and the next floor seats were then 20 rows away. As for releasing new blocks, well, I went back to TM and still get bad seats. I could go on but I'm tired. This has all been a huge waste of energy, and I'll know better next time.

From a fan club email sent to me last night:

If you've been a member for more than a day and are experiencing
login/password difficulties, please contact Ticketmaster or Tickets.com for
assistance as your final data has been uploaded to the systems.

Please remember that these systems are CASE SENSITIVE. Ticketmaster has
told us that most of the customer service calls they have had today have
been resolved by using the correct upper and lower case.

Uh, NO. Ticketmaster was no help when my password didn't work. They were just as confused as the rest of us. They even tried my password and it didn't work. It had nothing to do with upper and lower case letters.

Someone screwed up here in uploading the correct logins to the Ticketmaster system. They got our $60 immediately and I expect to have access to the fan club perks immediately (or at least before the damn sale starts!!!).

Turns out there were. Apparently these boneheads neglected to take into consideration time zone differences.
