When will this end!?!

I'm so annoyed....I'm sure this has happened to some of you...anyway...

This morning I went into work (I work a country radio station) and the person I was relieving was training a new girl...anyway...Dixie Chick's version of Landslide was on...and I commented on how good it was, and the woman that works here agreed...then I enlightened ;) her with the knowledge of where the song came from...and she said to the new trainee "this is our resident Stevie Nicks fan..." and the new trainee was like, "Oh yeah...I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan..." well, of course, I'm excited and I say something else about Stevie and the new girl says..."well you know she's totally into black magic and she's a witch and all that...." well...my excitement deflated right there...

This happens countless numbers of times to me...does this happen to you all as well? I never realized this was such a wide-spread rumour...and it's begining to bug the crap out of me that everyone feels the need to inform me of things like this....ok..just had to vent...

Gypsy-Rhiannon 10-05-2002 09:35 AM

That would seriously bug me too. Totally hypocritical of her to call herself a 'huge Fleetwood Mac fan' and then spout crap like that

Pip

DrummerDeanna 10-05-2002 09:47 AM

I know! And I of course corrected her with a very polite, "um yeah...those are un-true rumours...she's not a witch"

at which the girl sort of looked at me like I was dumb...and then Dana (the woman that was training the girl) was like, "uh oh...you know...Deanna knows what she's talking about I wouldn't argue" or something like that...hehehe...everyone here already knows not to mess with my Stevie-fan-ness lol...but the worst part is always setting the record straight and then having the person look at you like you're a total moron...

FiercestCalmSea 10-05-2002 01:19 PM

Everyone that finds out i am Stevie fan mentions the godammed witch thing.I am like "Hello,no she is not...that is so not true". And i get this odd look "Like how the hell do you know"? It pisses me off royally..cause i mean basically all i have is my word against what people think, but honestly,if people had half a brain, they would realize that she doesn't exactly possess magical powers and a crystal ball that foresees the future..cause if she did she would have been able to avoid a whole lotta the crap that she went through,lol..not that i even believe in witches anyway..but you figure these knuckleheads would look at it that way..

I once had a random guy I met keep INSISTING that Stevie had a fake nose......that she snorted so much that her real one fell off and that now she has a plastic one. I didn't even bother try to argue this one it was so rediculous. Where do these things start???

No-one I know has ever said something about Stevie being a witch. (Well, I only 2 people that are FM fans)

OMG..that is HILARIOUS! I've heard some pretty odd Stevie things through my years being a fan...and having random dumb people saying dumb things...but that one is totally new to me...lol...can you imagine...her nose falling off!?! that's awful lol...

kristin 10-06-2002 01:05 PM

You should have told her, "If Stevie was really into black magic...Lindsey'd be a frog by now!" Heh, heh. Along with Don too.

i know!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. My aunt's family are all very conservative christians (no offense to those who are, of course :) ) and every time i mention Stevie their like, you know she's a witch, right? and then my uncle was done at my house and kept talking about it. He was like " I heard her say in an interview she was a witch!" Even if she did think she was a witch at one time, I know she isn't now, and even if she was, SO WHAT! I

He was like " I heard her say in an interview she was a witch!" Even if she did think she was a witch at one time, I know she isn't now, and even if she was, SO WHAT! I love Stevie for the music she makes, and I don't care what her personal beliefs/practices/ideas are! I had one teacher last year, who was also a conservative Christian, and i was helping him and the end of the year getting his room packed up and stuff. well, i brought in a Sarah McLachlan cd to listen to b/c he said that he liked her music, so we were listening to it and he said " well i like sarah's music, but some of her songs kind of advocate gay rights" WTF? people can be so judgemental based on others beliefs! I can't stand people that are like "well this person and I don't agree on one certain thing, so I'm going to avoid them all togther and condemn their beliefs...) Back to Stevie, I was eating at a restaurant with my uncle that had a jukebox and the dance was in it so I played Silver Springs. He said, "Well, THIS songs seams ok. And then when stevie sings "Time casts its spell on you" he goes "SEE! She said "I'll cast a spell on you"! oh brother, lighten up people!!!

i guess thats enough ranting for now. did u acually read the whole thing? Wow, thanks! :p

DownOnRodeo 10-07-2002 06:10 AM

LOL Kristin - thanks for that anecdote, what a hoot!

But seriously....

I guess all these rumours must get up Stevie's nose, hey?

  ;) :wavey:

DownOnRodeo 10-07-2002 06:14 AM

But in all fairness.....

on the "Stevie is a witch" issue.....

...only she herself nose the answer to that!

Hey did Don Henley write the Eagles' Witchy Woman?? ;) ;)

Its very funny really that people would think her nose fell off...HEHE...I mean just imagine going to the doctors office...

DOCTOR---"What seems tobe the problem?"....

STEVIE---"Well Doc..I was just snorting coke again and my nose came right off in my hand"....

Don't you just hate it when your nose falls off?...I know I do...HEHE...J/K:laugh:

Adam:)

That's hysterical! Just what i needed on a grey Monday morning!
I love it when people bring up the other rumour about how Stevie was getting the cocaine into her system after her nose was shot. Talk about farfetched rumours!!!

Regarding your 'scenario' above...can you picture Stevie driving to the doctor's with a pair of those funny nose/glasses!?!?
