I love this song. Loved it even before they used it in Practical Magic. All I know of it history wise, but i can not recall where i came across this info, is that she had written it at the end of her relationship with Mick.

Actually, I read that Stevie had written it and brought it into the Rumours session. That would be before her fling with Mick. :)

That's ALL it brings to mind...

For sure it's about him.

Lindsey was miserable, she wanted to hold him and make it better, but she knew she would only make him feel worse.
At the same time she doesn't want him to forget her.
I am pretty sure it dates from around the same time Silver Springs was written, and it does have similar sentiment and word crafting about it that reminds me of SS.

It is really one of my favs, and I get on kicks where all I want to do is listen to it over and over...
I love it.
The video is really lovely, too, because it was done when Stevie was really in the precess of getting back to the gypsy that she is!
She looks like a very classic beauty in that video.

I bought the Uncirculated Rumours records in about 1985, and there's an older demo of this on there. Sulamith's assesment could be right; her voice on the demo is definitely pre-1980.

I always loved this song too! It's one of those demos I listened to over and over again and made it onto all of my "best of" compilations. I couldn't believe it when I heard that she finally officially released it! I had been listening to it for years!
