well..if stevie is going to be a ''guest''diva...
Then i guess thats better than being branded a ''diva'' for life.
i just think that word is not stevie at all. to me ''diva'' means a concided, stuck up,snobbish, attention grabbing person. i really don't think stevie has ever been that. oh, and by the way..it's only a few weeks to the show so i guess that will give sheryl more suck up time so she can get added on as well. because as we all know...wherever stevie is...sheryl can't be far behind....now THATS a diva! |
Let's not start another Sheryl bashing thread please

Hey im just supprides that their butting her on stage with cher. God I hate Cher with a passion she cant predorm live and has no talent and is beyond obnoxios. Im glad stevie is going to be on the show if only for the coverage she will get, but I wish that they would do something cool like a tribute to her cause shes been making albums and has been in the buisness for what like 30 years. But hell thats just how I feel although I think it will be quite awesome to see stevie kick ass on stage and have to watch cher suck on national tv like she did at divias a few years ago. ha ha ha ha ha

I do have to admit I am not a cher fan. I have mixed feelings about Stevie being on Diva's. IT is great that she will be on TV again but I would have rather it had been on something else...or maybe with different guests. I mean Shakira???? She has only released one song over here which I do like but she is hardy a diva??!!!

not.
if there is one peformer in this concert who's got SOME class- it's cher. i'm not saying cher did not record some crappy music from time to time, and you are right about her not being at her best performing live, still, this divas concert's ensemble is so lame, that cher is it's only respectable diva there (apart from stevie of course) i must say again that this concert smells like trouble IMO....:distress: |

Um..yea ok..i have something to say about this...and dont' get me wrong, cause i love Stevie to death...but the last thing Sheryl does is follow Stevie...she doesn't need her to enhance her career whatsoever...and i have even heard mumurings that is the other way around to an extent..since Sheryl is a bit younger and more recognizable to younger audience bases,it gives Stevie more exposure to be seen with her...I am not sure how much i am in agreement with it..but it may very well hold some truth...and just for the record..Stevie is not a diva..and neither is Sheryl...not to mention the Dixie Chicks...wtf is up with that?? And i love them to death too..they just don't fit the category...but if they are gonna be on tv,then i am gonna watch :P That just my 2 cents here..hope i wasn't too crabby..i haven't had my coffee yet,lol... |
This concert will bomb (acept for stevie of course) like they all have sure there will be some good parts but this whole diva thing is really getting old. VH1 time for a new concept

Such bitterness from so many...
I've decided I AM glad Stevie is on the Diva's show, even if she is a special guest which to me definitely means she's going to perform with the Dixie Chicks. I don't know if she'll do any songs on her own. As far as Cher goes, I don't know why you would bash her. She has a lot of credibility, and I love her newest single "Song for the Lonely." But my FAVORITE Cher song is "Dark Lady." I remember this lady always sang it at karaoke, and on the three beat thing, everyone listening would slam their glasses on the table. It was fun. Sure Cher has had down times, especially with the infamous infomercial and equal commercials, but she still has some great attributes to music. She's the only woman to have (I think) a #1 hit in the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. If it's not #1 hits, then it's top ten hits. Also with "Believe," she became the oldest woman in music to have a #1 hit, or, how do they phrase this? Here we go: She had a #1 hit at a higher age than any other female artist. You can rag on Shakira or Britney or Christina who have yet to do anything groundbreaking or anything worth mentioning thus far in their careers (except of course for Britney's unclothedness, but that doesn't really apply here), but Cher and Celine Dion have made their presence in the music world well known. |
Okay.....I feel stupid for asking this.....LOL....But does anyone know what the actual definition of the word "diva" is? (By VH1's standards?)
~~Angela~~:wavey: |
The looser definition of diva, which is basically the definition everyone goes by, is a woman with a great voice who can "belt" or "break it down" a lot and hold the audience stunned. Generally, they have a kind of care free and almost conceited attitude, like, "Yeah, I know I'm good," and that makes for an even better performance. Such divas include Celine Dion and seemingly Cher (even though she doesn't admit it), people like Gloria Gaynor or Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin is SO a diva under these terms, and KIND OF Shania Twain, just to name a few. The problem is, people like Stevie don't generally fit in this looser category, in my opinion anyway, because she isn't about "the voice," she's about "the music." She and people like Deborah Harry and Joan Jett are rock what I call female rockers. The Dixie Chicks are country girls. That, to me, is what VH1 wants in a diva though...at least, that's the definition they go by.

OK....
there have been many defimitions of the word 'Diva' here's what the dictionary has to say....HP53 going all serious just for a moment.............
diva....a highly distinguished female singer;prima donna [via Italian from Latin: a goddess, from divus DIVINE] Given the definition above I would say that Stevie fits the above description of diva quite well....LOL!! :wavey:  |
Oh, thanks so much... Sorcerer386 and highpriestess53!!! LOL. I feel so much better now!
And I guess she IS a diva, according to that dictionary, at least...lol.:p :) :D Although I don't think she is by VH1's standards. OH WELL...I'm just happy to get to see Stevie on TV!! YAYYYYYY!!!! ~~Angela~~:wavey: |
