Rick Vito in Seger's Shakedown video

I was reading an article today how Bob Seger landed the task of recording the soundtrack to Beverly Hills Cop 2. The song Shakedown was Bob Seger's only #1 song but Bob thought it landed a bit out of style for him and never included it on his first Greatest Hits album even though it was his only #1. Glen Frey recorded The Heat Is On for Beverely Hills Cop and was also #1 and a huge hit. Because of that success they went back to Glen for part 2. The song was all ready to be recorded but Glen got laryngitis and could not sing. Glen thought his buddy Bob Segar could do the song justice. When Bob got the song he thought there were too many lyrics about working undercover and changed much of the lyrics. It was recorded by Bob and the song rocketed to #1 and was a huge MTV hit with one of the biggest movies of 1987. I was watching the video today and saw Rick Vito on stage with his Tango In The Night suit on. The song has some wild guitar parts and never knew Rick played on the song. I know he is famous for his slide guitar on Like A Rock and has played with Bob for years. However Rick Vito does not play on the song. He is just in the video. They brought in Billy Idol's guitar player to do guitar parts and another guitarist was used as the main guitarist. But here he is in early 1987 just as Tango was about to be released on MTV in one of the biggest music videos that year.

Yes, he is just in the video. I don't remember if I found out he appears there just watching the video clip or someone here posted about it. The personnel according to wiki was
Harold Faltermeyer – Synclavier
Keith Forsey – percussion
Dann Huff – guitar
Bob Seger – vocals

Oh by the way, don't forget is not Segar. Maybe some Bob's fan read your post and get annoyed—like when some ledgies get mad because someone writes Lindsay.

Yes
Thank you for proof reading my mistake. It was a typo.
What really annoyed people especially Michelle in the early days is when people would write Bob Welsch instead of Welch.
Its crazy to think when this song was #1 in the spring of 1987 that in just a few more months the guy in the video would be in Fleetwood Mac.

BTW,
Christie McVie was in Fleetwood Mac along with guitarist Stevie Nicks. His boyfriend was lead singer Lindsay Buckingham

I'm 99.9% sure my friend Crystal Taliaferro(John Douchebagcamp, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel) is singing backup on this.

She always spells it Segar...*cringe*

If Mick read this post, he'd think you read that in a Billboard early 1975 edition.

Our low status in those days was confirmed when our label took out an ad in Billboard. In the photograph Stevie was identified as Lindsey and vice versa. We were not amused.

Has anyone seen that issue? I think it would be a collector's item today.

It was more than just Billboard that got it wrong which is why I wrote that. I saw it on a Tusk photo shoot in a rock magazine once.

Yes, sometimes the press does not do its homework well. This made me remember a Carpenters doc that included Karen telling a story about an old interview where the guy asked them when they met. She looked at him for a few seconds and answered... In high school!!!
