"Blue Letter" '75

It appears to be from the same source as this "Rhiannon": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRTSY-Y85DE Stevie with the shortest hair I've seen on her. found the whole concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5X6Gr-ZkwA |
I believe she has a braid in the back. It was a shag cut, so the top is short and the rest is in the braid.

I have always thought that Christine should never try to harmonize on this live song. She is always off. I have never heard a live version of Blue Letter with her singing that sounds good IMO.
|
I agree. She gets in the way of Stevie and Lindsey, whose voices on this song blend perfectly – a la "I Don't Want To Know" and, IMO, "I'm So Afraid" (see comment below).

This show's version of "I'm So Afraid" confirms what I say on another thread about the 1982 version: that it works better during the chorus for Stevie rather than Christine to do the backing vocal (here more of a co-lead vocal). (Christine may be singing here too but, if so, Stevie drowns her out.)
As an aside, at five minutes in length this version of "I'm So Afraid" has to be the shortest live version in circulation. Song at 27:13 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5X6Gr-ZkwA P.S. Further to my initial comment, during almost the entire show Stevie has her hair down (which looks better). It appears she braids it (making it look short) toward the end of the show during Mick's "World Turning" drum solo; then puts it down again during the encore break for the last song "Hypnotized" (so it's braided only during the end of "World Turning and during "Blue Letter"). |
Man, I love hearing Lindsey sing full out with the voice he had at that time. He still sounds good when he actually sings with no effects, but those were the days. What a voice.

I do think some of the effects are meant to try and give him those higher tones back, but some of it is him just preferring that sound, which is mystifying. Also, possibly too much technology. But when I last saw him live, I thought he sounded good for where we are in time, if not near his all time best. |
