Christine ITM masters for sale?
So, on a fb page called The True Fleetwood Mac Fan's Site, there's a guy named Rory Phillips, who says he came across these studio tapes(?), and he's trying to figure out how to sell them. Not sure if this link will work...
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1C5n47pQWN/ I saved the 7-8 pics he posted, but the Ledge is being screwy now, giving me error messages when I try to upload them. |
Master tapes found in a demolition site? That sounds weird. I read Sphere Studios @London closed in 2014, so if the tapes were there and they were forgotten, I see that in 11 years they are clean and in good condition. And those boxes are dated 2002, 2004.
Anyway I don't know if master tapes are kept by the studio, the record label (three in this case), or the producers (Perfect family, Ken Caillat). Probably Dan had the tapes, since he was involved in the re release according to Wikipedia, when Sphere Studio was not in UK anymore. So it's harder to believe they were forgotten in a demolition site. The pictures are very interesting. I wonder how can we be sure they're authentic? Also, is it legal to sell them? I don't think that kids phrase "finders keepers, losers weepers" apply in this case. If I found that tape, I think I would put it in a fancy display case, since I have no way of playing it. |
What a treasure if we could get our hands on them. :woohoo:

Someone commented in Rory's post "they are the property of the label and should not have been where they were found unless the demolition site was the label’s tape storage". Rory answered "it was the studio where it was recorded there were hundreds but the only artist I recognised wes Christine mcvie and the boom town rats".
I still find weird this story. It's like someone finding the negatives of some good Hollywood movie. I find it hard to believe they were just left there. Tape storage are environments with no humidity, controlled temperature, etc. so it would be difficult to "forget" them. Google mentions other artist recorded at Sphere Studios, like Elton John, Duran Duran, Queen, Genesis, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Supergrass, Razorlight, Geri Halliwell, and Adele. Why Christine and Boomtown Rats tapes (among others) were left there? I'm intrigued; I'd like to find out the whole story. |
We need to hear these! We also need to hear the extra Christine demo that Lindsey and Christine didn’t include on BuckVie. She had “high hopes” for they song. Would love to hear what is available.
But these ITM tapes—they need to be heard!!!! |
