New Waddy Wachtel Interview
|
“Stevie and I, we’ve been friends a long time,” Wachtel says. “It was so easy to understand each other. We instantly had this bond on stage. We knew how to be with each other, what the other one wanted from the other. It’s always been that way for us. We have that closeness.
Since Waddy is mentioned as a "staple on the road", "appeared on almost all eight of her albums" and "music director" for Stevie Nicks, I can't help but wonder why they've lasted so long in this musical relationship, and it seems to have been less complicated than with Lindsey, or with Jimmy Iovine. Yes, surely with these two guys there was more pressure during recording sessions, but I guess being on the road for so long is also a tough thing. |
Stevie was Waddy's boss, she was not the BOSS of Lindsey or Jimmy. She was also the boss of Dave Stewart, that's why those albums suck...for the most part.

They HAD to listen to her. Lindsey. Did. Not. Thus his firing, proving what a miserable old hag she is. |

Nicks is, in fact, one of Watchtel’s longest associations. They met during the early 1970s, and he was a primary guitar player on 1973’s Buckingham Nicks, the album she made with then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham before they joined Fleetwood Mac the following year. (Wachtel played rhythm guitar on “Sugar Daddy,” on the duo’s first album with Fleetwood Mac.) I don't have my copy in front of me, but isn't he credited on like one song...??? |

Yes, he's amazing. He toured with Stevie at least once. Maybe SA tour? I think that he was married to Nicolette Larson as well. I always liked her.
