'Rock Magazine' - 'She's Smiling Now' (Oct. 1983)

Uploaded to here.

Interestingly, no mention of Robin Anderson's death and Stevie's marriage to Kim.

Thanks for another trip down memory late. This was wallpapered all over my bedroom wall in 1983. The infamous "baby sister" interview.

Her haircut in the cover photo reminds me of Melanie Griffith in Working Girl first scenes. Very 80s. :)

I have another memory of this magazine. It included a fantastic fold up poster of Stevie. I had it framed and it was the center attention of my shrine.

Thank you for posting. It's very nostalgic to think back on this time when I used to seek out and live for anything I could find on Stevie and FM.

it's funny to think back how hard it was sometimes to get new info; now that everything is so accessible on social media...back then it was like you had to scour for new articles in a way people don't have any idea about, and when something new came out you were so excited to get it that you pored over it and read every word (more than once) and saved it so you could go back and read it again during the drought periods when there was no new info or pics.

And harder to me, not many foreign magazines used to arrive in Peru, it was not profitable. And the few ones were expensive for a teenager. Local media was not reliable or informed just about the most popular bands (Bee Gees, MJ). For several years I didn't know if the McVies were siblings or married.

I have cousins living in the USA but when they came to visit us, I always asked them about Fleetwood Mac, but they weren't fans and didn't know any news. They just told me who shot J.R. Ewing, or stuff like that.

In the early 80s when I just turned a teen tobacco and magazine shops were all over town. Me and my friends could spend hours in there looking at all the magazines. They would have the music section and back then there were endless magazines about current music; Rolling Stone, Creem, Hit Parade, Rock, etc. I actually remember seeing this magazine with Stevie smiling on the cover and I almost fainted. I had to wipe myself with chiffon before I could sit in the car for the ride home.

Another good one; thank you.

I appreciated her reference to being on "the other side of the mirror."

Thanks for sharing that…..

Interesting comment Stevie made… a foreshadowing….

“… I'm not one of the players and that puts me on the other
side of the mirror
; alone, with them
out in the studio. It's very lonely.”

And then….didn’t she dedicate OSOTM to “the great players”…..

Interesting. She is pure magic.
