25 greatest frontwomen in rock history
|
Where is Sharlene Spiteri of Texas..?
Fabulous voice, been performing with Texas since 1988. Still appearing now, in fact they were at Glastonbury last summer. |
I think Ann should be #1. She was a lead vocalist in a band and she is a powerhouse. Christine McVie should also be in the top 10. How do you put Annie Lennox in a rock category. All of her music was programmed pop. She is an excellent singer but she did not did not break ground like the other females.
I did not see Pat Benatar on the list or did I miss her. She broke so many female rock records today. Seriously. Why not put Brittany Spears on this list its such rubbish. |

These lists suck as much as Unconditional Love |
Also…much as I love Annie Lennox and her wonderful voice ..
How can you be a the fronts woman of a duo ? |

Also, the list didn’t say lead singer… it said front woman. Not that there’s much of a difference to me. |
Pat Benatar was a soloist. That's why she isn't on the list. I'm surprised Karen Carpenter is soo low. In the early 70s, she was the voice.

Were not the Carpenters a duo too?
You guys are crazy. You cant have it 20 ways. Hall and Oates won countless awards as a duo. No one considered them a band. But this list is a hodge podge of a little bit of everything. The definition of "front woman" needs to be defined. Tina Turner was a front woman in a band? If you discount Pat Benatar then you cant include Tina either. Tina's husband performed with her just like Pat. If you include Stevie as a front woman for Fleetwood Mac then where is Christine McVie? Christine had more hits with the band than Stevie. This list it total rubbish. Janis did perform early with 2 band but she left them before going on her own where she became the most famous. It would be like naming Stevie for Fritz, not Fleetwood Mac. All rubbish I say. |
This is another example where, though we enjoy finding our favorite singers, those lists are not to be taken so seriously.
