It Is With The Heaviest of Hearts That We Announce…
Jan 18, 2016

...the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

This is too much - make it stop!!

You're kidding me - yet another? So far I hate this year :( what is happening?

KarmaContestant 01-18-2016 06:10 PM

Your hero's are dying.
The old ones. The great ones.
The ones you looked up to aren't looking so good anymore.
And the ones growing up are crazier than we were.
But a war can always be won.
Well, if there is the sense in trying.
Not much is really a secret anymore.
We all grow up and the veils come down.
But the children go on.

And still, Stevie Nicks thinks they've got all the time in the world to finish a last album.

SisterNightroad 01-18-2016 06:15 PM

Good God what is it with this month?

HomerMcvie 01-18-2016 06:16 PM

The Eagles were always my second favorite group. It was never considered cool to like them(or FM for that matter), but I loved both.

My heart sank when I read the news. Because it's coming for all of them, sooner or later.

I'm sure this is the end of The Eagles.

And when it happens to one of FM, it will be the end of them, too(or should be).

Like OMG, what in the world is going on here? This is so sad. The musicians from the 70s, my generation, are passing. They are not that old. And I'll bet it is cancer again. I like the Eagles. I have their music; I grew up with their music. :sorry: Yeah, this year is not starting off very good.

This is just shocking news. Henley was just on Stern praising Frey. Besides founding the Eagles, Glenn was instrumental in getting Henley to sing instead of just playing drums. He encouraged Henley to do Desperado when Don didn't want to do it. Just an amazing song writer, guitarist, and overall person.
Since this is a Mac board, this is also devastating for the Mac. The Eagles and Mac were very close in the 70's. Glenn opened for the Mac solo on the Mirage tour.
Its impossible for the Eagles to go on without Glenn. RIP to probably the biggest musician/songwriter of the entire 70's decade.

KenshiMaster16 01-18-2016 06:45 PM

All the more reason for the Mac to finish this album. They're all getting older and the days are passing faster and faster. They need to enjoy each others company creatively while they can before the opportunity has passed them by and they are left with nothing but regrets.

As for Mr. Frey, it's such a sad and devastating loss for the music industry. This year has really sucked so far with the amount of major deaths we've all experienced. The Eagles were a mainstay in my CD player growing up alongside the Mac, Pink Floyd and The Beatles.

Heaven has a New Kid in Town. Thoughts go out to his family and bandmates tonight.

none of us are promised tomorrow...IMO they should call it a day and spend time with their family and friends, a lot more important instead of galloping around the world or preparing an album that may never happen if death comes knocking on their door (I see if constantly at work - people the same age group of 65-75 passing away...and I just buried an Uncle who was 72).

I’m sure more words will come later. Seeing though my tears to this white paper is almost impossible right now. For now…just this…
Take it easy, Mr Frey~
As you fly~
Take it easy~
