Not That Funny full version outtake '79 Doc

This was posted on youtube 5 years ago but i just came across it. Surprised noone else has posted about it. Completely different than what appears on the Doc/Live Concert video. I also have in my stash of vhs tapes an outtake of The Chain that's different from the final video but have not seen it appear on youtube.

Anyway...

Now that must be the ultimate liveversion. Although I love the long sexy one, this is compact, grinding and delivering the basic feel of the song. Fantastic.

This is my favorite version of Not That Funny. I've watched this video a million times. I love the piano on this. I actually referenced this video on my Tusk nit pick thread.

Is there any way you can upload that video you have of The Chain?

I know...that's where i found it. Thanks for linking that b/c i never would have seen it. Any new footage regarding that particular show is a wet dream for me haha.

Let me find where the tape is. I know i still have it in a box. Then i need to get it uploaded. Give me time on this unless someone else has it. It was mixed on the vhs with some other era footage of the band. Maybe it was on the '78 photoshoot? I don't recall. But there was this version of the chain (with the timecode on it) as well as a quick clip of the end of the concert where stevie comes out in her white rhiannon outfit and says "this is some band, don't you think?" It's the same audio as the soundboard.

Wish they had done it like that for the 2013 tour.

I concur! This just the right amount of funny. This must be an early performance. I think it just got longer and longer as the tour progressed.

I'm sure Stevie loved the song for her own reasons; she could leave the stage, take a break, freshen up, snort a line etc...

Do you remember what Stevie's line was back around this time when she left the stage for long periods of time. She said she was backstage breathing steam to help her with her voice. As a teen, I had a radio interview of her saying this.

But Stevie did have a machine and she held her head over it and breathed in the steam. We saw her doing it in one of the tour videos. Robin was helping her. Of course, that's not all she was doing backstage.
