Random Stevie thoughts

We don't really have a topic for posting random Stevie comments, so I thought we could open one? :-)

I'm just listening to Rock A Little properly for the first time and omg If I Were You is beautiful! I am enchanted and emotional. The "woowooowooow"s are like an arrow piercing through my heart.

That song + No Spoken Word + Has Anyone Ever Written = perfect way to close the album. This album makes me think a bit of Madonna's first record in terms of production value and sound. Not surprisingly they were released only 2 years apart.

I absolutely love "If I Were You." One of my favorite songs off RAL.

RAL has always been my fav Stevie solo album. I dusted it off last week and gave it a spin. I think No Spoken Word may be my favorite Stevie solo song ever. The arrangement, the vocal, the lyrics, the passion and the anger, the backing vocals...it's magnificent in every sense of the word. I've always loved the song but time has made me appreciate it that much more.

No Spoken Word is definitely my favourite song off of RAL, and in my top 5 Stevie songs... I think it would have made a pretty good third single in lieu of HAEWAFY

I agree. I never got how HAEWAFY was a single. If I Were You also would have made a great choice as single #3.

I mostly agree, however I think it would have been somewhat damaging to release two singles not written by Stevie, and then only one with a co-writing credit, considering she is known as a prolific songwriter. Also, am I the only one who can imagine Sister Honey being a successful single?

Not sure what you mean by the writing things?

Talk To Me - Chas
I Can't Wait - Stevie, Eric, Rick
Has Anyone Ever Written - Stevie, Keith

Sister Honey - Stevie, Les
If I Were You - Stevie, Rick

I meant if she had released If I Were You, then it would be 2/3 songs that were barely written by Stevie, that it would hurt her credibility as a songwriter

I LOVE No Spoken Word. I wonder if it was recorded closer to the start of the RAL sessions rather than later on, it's the best song on the album for her voice.
