If Tusk was only twelve songs...

I listened to the entire album today for the first time in a while. Every time I listen to it, I think they probably could have condensed it to eleven or twelve songs. If Tusk was a regular sized album with only twelve songs, I say twelve because Mirage had twelve.

Also, if you guys have done this before, I apologize.

I'm just going with four songs per writer, you guys pick which ever songs and organize your list however you want.

Lindsey:
Save Me a Place
That's All a For Everyone
Not That Funny
Walk A Thin Line

Christine:
Over & Over
Think About Me
Brown Eyes
Never Make Me Cry

Stevie:
Sara
Angel
Storms
Fireflies (if Fireflies doesn't count, then Sisters of The Moon.)

Over and Over
The Ledge
Think About Me
Storms
Angel
That's Enough for Me
Brown Eyes
Honey Hi
Beautiful Child
Walk a Thin Line
Tusk
Never Forget

What if the album had instead been called STORMS and looked like this? Do we have a more commercially accessible album, hypothetically? The title Storms seems more thematically unifying than Tusk, the storms of the three different artists, the storms of their relationships, changing it up post-Rumours, a tangible concept.

Side 1
What Makes You Think You're The One
Think About Me
Sara
The Ledge
Over & Over
Sisters of the Moon

Side 2
Tusk
Storms
Honey Hi
I Know I'm Not Wrong
Brown Eyes
Beautiful Child

Edit: I love the album Tusk. It's grown on me. I love how unique it is; it is like The Beatles white album. I do wish Lindsey incorporated more of the band and the other voices in his songs. Angel, for me, is a bit of a dud, the studio recording...if only the pace were quicker and more like the live version. I still feel at this point the band was repressing Stevie, whose work is superior...I understand how she probably thought it was unfair that Lindsey got so many songs and how that drove her to go solo. I'm obsessed with Honey Hi these days; the recording is just perfect. I kind of wanted Never Make Me Cry in here, but Honey Hi won out. Brown Eyes would be a good start to a side...maybe I should switch Brown Eyes with Tusk? I wanted Walk a Thin Line and I love how That's All for Everyone really reminds me of the end of The Beatles white album, but I love The Ledge and WMYTYTO too much. Save Me a Place also on the DL. I wish I liked some of his others, but Not that Funny doesn't do anything for me. Anyway, as interesting as this is, I think my sides are too long for vinyl!! LOL

I wouldn't worry too much. I don't think we Ledgies have that kind of super power to change history; at least not yet.

This is so stupid! Everybody knows it was Stevie's songs that kept this album solid. But Lindsey knew that and capitalized on it.
Keep all of Stevie's ****, throw in a few from lindz and Christine McVie and boomb your done.

I somewhat agree with you. It's mostly Lindsey's songs I would cut. His songs, except for the four I picked out, are not that great. I don't see why he thought they needed a double album when most of his songs were weird and some not even two minutes long.

Thats (re) opening a big can of worms.

I'd suggest;

Over & Over
Angel
Honey Hi
What Makes You Think You’re the One
Think About Me
Tusk

Sisters of the Moon
Brown Eyes
Sara
I Know I’m Not Wrong
Beautiful Child
Never Forget

SisterNightroad 10-15-2014 09:12 AM

My choice would be (NOT in this order):

1 Over & over
2 The Ledge
3 Think about me
4 Sara
5 Storms
6 Sisters of the moon
7 Angel
8 Brown eyes
9 Never make me cry
10 Honey hi
11 Beautiful child
12 Tusk

But then we would truly have a Rumours 2 and with very little Lindsey.

Lol I realize that, that's why I made this thread.

The Lindsey songs that are really just not good at all from Tusk, in my opinion, are:

What Makes You Think a You're the one- it's a very abrasive song, the vocal and instruments all sound way too random and just not good.

I Know I'm not Wrong, it sounds very similar to Not That Funny and I like the latter better.

Tusk is not that great either, and I'm not a fan if the marching band addition

That's Enough For Me isn't even two minutes long, waste of space.

The Ledge also sounds dumb and it's very short.

Ok, trying to cut this down to 12 songs, 4 per songwriter, is fairly easy for Stevie & Christine. I think their weaker tracks (not that they have weak tracks on "Tusk", just slightly weaker) are more obvious. It was Lindsey's tracks I had a hard time cutting down, surprisingly.

But I came up with this:

1. Over & Over
2. What Makes You Think You're The One?
3. Storms
4. Think About Me
5. Save Me A Place
6. Sisters of the Moon

7. Not That Funny*
8. Angel
9. Brown Eyes
10. Tusk
11. Sara
12. Never Forget

*this was difficult. I actually prefer "Walk A Thin Line" and "The Ledge" massively, but felt that, with just 12 tracks and at that stage in the album, Lindsey needed a more upbeat track, straight forward track. It was a VERY close call between "I Know I'm Not Wrong" and "Not That Funny". Again, personally, I prefer the former, but NTF seemed to fit better in that slot in this running order.

it's against the law in 49 states (sorry tennesee) to alter Tusk.
