24 Karat Gold Promotion
It's almost time for the vinyl release ( CD shortly after) so in terms of promoting Stevie and "24 Karat Gold" how do you think "Camp Stevie" has done so far?
While they are doing more than they ever have for Stevie they seem to have a "mention it once and forget about it" attitude...Personally I think there are a lot of opportunities they are missing. Her people should be playing up Stevie's popularity...Stevie was "trending" on Bing for two (yes 2 ) days with the news of her "Self portrait" exhibition. Any mention of this from her people ? NO! Have any of her "Selfies" been posted on her Instagram? NO! A lot of aspiring designers have submitted pieces in the "Design a "SHAWL" (correct spelling) contest". It would be nice if this were followed up on her twitter or some of the designs could be posted on her Instagram. The new season of "The Voice" has just started and this also has not been mentioned... And when are they going to get the Jeopardy producers to replace the incorrect answer beep with Stevie's "WRONG" from "Starshine"(Thanks Jamie) While I am not complaining about what we have gotten so far and yes it's still early in the game and promotion will undoubtedly ramp up when "24K" hits the shelves I still think they could be doing more... |

Perhaps I spoke to soon or maybe "Camp Stevie" is stalking The Ledge... |
I'm 100 percent sure they have a time frame for when they will do thing and I am 100000000000000000000000000000000000 percent sure it's not all at once for

i'm impressed they're pimping her at all
HOWEVER ... some of this "news" should be BAM on her ig/fb/twitter FIRST especially the photo exhibit. how hard to post a polaroid on ig with a link to the hotel x posted to twitter. easy peasy. |
I would say that Stevie has a better promotion team around her NOW that at any past point in her career. Stevie has NEVER been good at promotion AND her "team" has been non-existent in the past. Let's keep in mind that Stevie has NEVER won a Grammy for her SOLO career AND only one (1) Grammy with Fleetwood Mac. She has yet to be considered for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a SOLO artist (which I feel she should be). OF all of her solo singles, only about 4 have made it into the Billboard Top 10 Pop Chart. She's never won an American Music Award (or even been nominated that many times, for that matter). There was a time in the early 80's when it was very difficult to find Stevie on TV (other than music videos). For her first 4 solo albums, she never made appearances on "The Tonight Show with Carson/Leno", "Late Show with Letterman", or any other avenue of that nature. I nearly freaked out when she FINALLY appeared on "Arsenio Hall" in 91. In fact, I don't think she made it to the Letterman show until 1998. That is an utter disregard for promotion. Yes, some of it may have been her own choice, OR just a poor promotion team behind her. If her first 4 solo albums had been marketed better, I think she would have had more Top 10 hits, awards and recognition. I think "The Wild Heart" had the potential to sell about 6-8 million units. Instead, it fizzled out after the second single (which only made it to number 14). Where was the promotion team? Probably getting high and throwing money out the window.

I've always wanted Stevie to have a grand website, filled with streaming audio, all of her video content, exploding at the seams with photographs, and an online store with shirts, lithographs, soundboard recordings and other exclusive audio recordings. |

If they can do that, then surely there is someone that Warners, Stevie (or Karen) can hire to set all that up for her. But that would actually make sense, wouldn't it? So I guess it's not going to happen. When the Nicks Fix shuts down, is Warners going to be her primary website? |
