24KtG vs. new FM Songs

So, which (if any) demos do you think are most likely to be passed over for 24KtG in favor of finding a home on the new Fleetwood Mac album, and why? Or do you think she'll write all new material for FM, because of what she's doing for the new solo album?

My most likely guesses:
1. If You Were My Love Wasn't this one almost on Mirage?
2. All The Beautiful Worlds According to this site, it was recorded for SYW...
3. Any/all of the Rhiannon Songs, especially if this is to be the last FM record as some have speculated.

If the FM contributions are all new songs, they will most likely pale by comparison with the 'vault' compositions. I don't think Stevie is incapable of writing great songs anymore, it's just that her focus these days is seemingly on conjuring up commercial pop moments that just leave me cold. I hope to be proven wrong though...

I disagree; I believe Stevie still has the potential to write songs that could be future classics. She wrote some great songs on her last album.

Did Fleetwood Mac really record/or attempt to record a version of All The Beautiful Worlds for Say You Will? It's the first time I have heard about that.

Any of those songs would be at home on a Fleetwood Mac album. Since Stevie is taking stock of her back log of songs for her new album, I wouldn't be surprised if something familiar to us shows up on a new Fleetwood Mac album. But I hope she will write something new too.

I don't know. It also says they recorded Mistaken Love, and two of Lindsey's songs that turned up on his solo records. So... maybe?

It was rumored back in '03, but it was never proven to be anything more than a rumor. Additionally, neither song's copyright was renewed at the time. So I'm guessing no.

With respect, what I said was that I don't believe Stevie is incapable of writing great songs anymore, but that she chooses to concentrate on more formulaic, commercial pop.

My guesses would be If You Were My Love and Watchdevil. :)

If LB and CM are recording new material Stevie will do the same...Whatever they do they better get it done quickly...

I stand corrected! I misinterpreted your post. I'll blame it on the deliciously fine wine I'm enjoying right now.

There is no doubt in my mind, whatever tracks are not used for "24 Karat Gold" Songs From The Vault" will go straight to Fleetwood Mac as demos to be re-recorded with Fleetwood Mac for their new record. Moreover, Stevie has probably held back at least one standout cut from what she's already recorded for the new MAC record. It's the easiest and most efficient way and, right now, Stevie is all about efficiency. Spending MONTHS in a studio working with Buckingham is THE LAST THING Stevie wants to do at this point in her career. I'm not saying I agree, but that's just the way it is.

Another way of looking at this is that she is clearing out her backlog of OLD songs that she didnt want LB to get his hands on and change. She likes the way her production teams does her songs, FINALLY after all these years and says the sound the way she wants them to be. When her music gets sucked into FM it gets changed, sometimes for the better, sometimes for worse. I think this way she can give fresh, new words or poems or demos to FM and be much happier with the way they come out.

ALSO, the Ledgies will have nothing to complain and B1tcH about when FM records and "OLD DEMO" and "RUINED IT OMG!". It will be fresh to our eardrums and we will be thankful for something rather than nothing.

Stevie won't be spending months in the studio with LB...First off is the fact that Stevie will have Dave produce her FM songs and he will have her 5 songs done quickly...Second I don't think they have months to spend working on Stevie's songs anyway(another reason for Dave producing)...Third and this is yet another reason for having Dave, he's better at getting a good sound on Stevie's vocal tracks than LB...I and listened to "Without You" (from the EP) again the other day and it's terrible all LB had to do was stay as close to the original as he could but no he had to try use his slick production on it and the next time LB reaches for the knob that changes the speed of the vocal track someone needs to slap his hand with a ruler, Stevie doesn't need to sound like a mouse...

Watchdevil has been confirmed to be on 24 Karat by a Miami Herald writer.

I think with Christine back in Fleetwood Mac -- providing the more "commercial," radio-friendly songs that she's so good at -- Stevie won't be so concerned with adding that element.
