Please with the new Album ,Dave.........
Use Stevie's background Vocals/ Harmony as much as possible and limit the " Girls" voices as much as you can. I can't stand when I hear more Sharon and Lori in the background then Stevie. Hate it!

Good luck with that. :wavey:
Stevie's relationship with those women is one of the few things she seems to hold sacred, and they are an absolutely integral part of her solo sound (in Stevie's eyes). They've been pushed to the front of the sound since the beginning. Even her biggest hit singles early on featured the girls quite prominently- Edge & Stand Back in particular. Just look at her album artwork, too- none of the musicians are ever featured in them. But Lori & Sharon are- on every single album. I'd be willing to bet the girls will be featured more prominently than ever on this album, given it's comprised of nothing but old demos, many of which featured Sharon & Lori, and the fact that this is appearing to be a love letter to her fans. |

I agree...I like stevie harmonizing with herself.

Got to have the girls. Its like Elvis muting out The Jordanaires.
|
Doesn't she do both? The girls are always there in some capacity, but Stevie sometimes harmonizes with herself in certain vocal lines.

My favorite songs from Stevie's solo stuff always seems to be the tracks when HER background vocals are more prominent.

"The Girls" can be both a blessing and a curse depending on the producer and how the tracks are mixed. Sometimes, "The Girls" voices are overused. Other times, they are sorely missed. I also am a fan of Stevie's sparse tracks, with just her voice and limited instrumentation. The first time I remember Stevie NOT using "The Girls" on every track was "Street Angel". Did Stevie sing her own background vocals on "Blue Denim"?
