The scrapped "Best Of" CD from 2002

A year or so after TISL was released, Warners had planned to release a new "Best Of" CD compilation. The project was scrapped and a few years later they released "Crystal Visions" instead. Someone on this forum (A LONG TIME AGO) posted the track list of what was to be on the scrapped version. I do recall that the "I Can't Wait" slow intro version was on there, as well as the Sheryl Crow remix of "Sorcerer" and extended "Planets".

Does anyone still have a copy of that list to repost on here? I tried to find the original thread that had this information but am having no luck.

Here's the thread I think you're thinking of:

Funny, I just made a playlist of these songs last week!

Thanks, BlueLight! I appreciate that. I was trying to figure out how to delete this thread now that you posted the old one but I can't figure out how to do so. Age + Technology, ya know. ;)

My pleasure! Reading over this thread reminded me of how anxious I am for the 24-Karat tracklisting to drop! :p

I sure would have enjoyed this CD more than Crystal Visions.

Right??? :) The remixes of "Long Way To Go" and "The Nightmare" are both kick ass! They would have given "The Very Best of Stevie Nicks" such a welcomed change from "Timespace" and a charge of energy...but no...we got a lackluster live "Rhiannon" and two unnecessary versions of "Edge Of Seventeen". Boo.

I'd love to have that Nightmare remix on CD...not to mention I love collecting single edits. I really hope there's another CD compilation soon, compiling some of the few remaining rarities.

That said, I'm sure Crystal Visions is the album Stevie *wanted* to release.

I'd really, really like these three vinyl or cassette only tracks released on CD:
The Nightmare - 12" Mix
Mirror Mirror
Rock A Little - unedited, full length version

These are already on CD, but rare, foreign, out-of-print or promo only, and not readily available to many fans:
Touched By An Angel - From sweet November soundtrack
Real Tears - From UK Long Way To Go CD
Sorcerer - Sheryl Crow Edit - from sorcerer promo single
Planets of the Universe - Extended - From Planets maxi-CD
Rooms On Fire - 12" Mix from UK Room On Fire CD
Long Way To Go - 12" Mix From UK Long Way To Go CD
Inspiration - From Japanese release of Street Angel
God's Garden - From Japanese release of Street Angel
If You Ever Did Believe - From Practical Magic Soundtrack
Crystal - 1998 - From Practical Magic Soundtrack
My Heart - From Barnes & Noble exlusive "In Your Dreams"
No Spoken Word - Live At Red Rocks - From UK Long Way To Go CD
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You - Live At Red Rocks - from UK Room On Fire CD
Talk To Me - Alternate Mix (used for Time/Life "Only Rock 'n Roll 1985-1989" compilation CD)

Mama gets what Mama wants. ;) In regards to a new CD compilation, I don't think we'll be getting anything soon. at least not for another 10 years or so. :/

Probably so. But with soon-to-be two album releases since her last compilation, it's somewhat likely that her label may put one out.

YES!!! I would have far preferred the "Reflections" tracklisting, too. It seems to be geared more towards serious fans than the general public. I absolutely love the Nightmare remix, and agree that it would be great to have on CD.

It would have been nice to finally see "Nightbird" make it onto a BEST OF COMPILATION. The song was a minor hit in early 1984, making it into the Billboard Top 40.

single versions

I personally prefer the track listing of the cancelled compilation. I like it when the greatest hits packages use the original single versions, I already have the album versions and can easily make a playlist from them.

I have many single versions, but there are still some I'm missing. I'm new to here and still learning how to search Does anyone have any of the following single versions?
Gypsy
Leather and Lace
Long Way to Go
Nightbird
The Nightmare (7"B-side version)
Sisters of the Moon (edit version)

If anyone is looking for any other versions, let me know and I will post what I have.

The Very Best of Stevie Nicks (US Version)
1. Edge of Seventeen - Single Edit
2. Stand Back - Single Edit
3. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
4. Crying In The Night - Single Version
5. Leather and Lace - Single Edit
6. Rooms on Fire - 7" Remix
7. I Can't Wait - US Single Version
8. The Nightmare - 12" Version
9. Nightbird - Single Version
10. Dreams - Deep Dish featuring Stevie Nicks
11. Planets of The Universe - Tracy Young Mixshow
12. Long Way To Go - 7" Remix
13. Talk To Me
14. If Anyone Falls
15. Sorcerer - Sheryl Crow Radio Edit
16. Blue Denim - Single Remix
17. If You Ever Did Believe - Radio Edit
18. After The Glitter Fades
This would have been a much better set, in my opinion. The only changes I would have made would have been to axe the Tracy Young Mixshow for Planets and put the extended album version and Talk To Me would have been the version that appeared on the Time-Life set.

If the single edit of Edge of Seventeen was the 3:36 single edit that appeared on the German and Netherlands 7" single I would have loved to have that. I've wanted that and Christine's Love Will Show Us How single edit on CD or in digital format for years and years along with the Save Me single edit.

I agree, lyonluv that these single versions are perfect for a best of. Some are really hard to find and get good quality digital copies of. What a great way to make a "best of" release stand out by putting hard-to-find single versions and remixes on it.
