Does anyone think Christine may have contributed to the "24 Karat Gold" album?

I'm curious about Christine's potential involvement in Stevie's upcoming album. There has been no confirmation from the band members that Christine actually travelled to Nashville or attended Stevie's recording sessions, but if she was there at that time, then it would be reasonable to conclude that she at least visited Stevie.
What I'm wondering is whether Stevie decided out of the blue that Christine had to be present on one (or more) of the "vault" songs and urged her to attend with little notice. If, for example, Stevie was considering the likes of "China Doll", "Forsaken Love" or "Forest Of The Black Roses", these could all easily lend themselves to arrangements based around a conspicuous piano and naturally, Christine might come to mind. (I realise many of the early demos were piano/vocals only, but if Stevie and Dave were keen on retaining the integrity of the original recordings, then I would imagine piano would have to figure prominently in songs such as these.)
PS If "Forest Of The Black Roses" was to be recorded, a full orchestration (in the style of "Beauty And The Beast") would be most appropriate in my opinion. It could be "something exquisite"...

Despite the report of Christine being on an airplane and that picture of a woman on the beach, now I'm thinking that Christine wasn't actually involved.

Christine was in Nashville and it was thought at the time that she was there with Stevie possibly working on some songs for FM but now that we know that Stevie was most likely working on just her solo record who knows why she was there or what if any involvement she had on Stevie's songs...If Stevie invited Christine to play on some of her songs I would think they would be going for a 70's keyboard sound also did Christine play on any of the demos if so her involvement would suggest an attempt to retain the original feel of the song...Remember Dave said the songs were "Classic Stevie Nicks" on the other hand if they needed more of a formal sound I would think they would bring in a trained pianist..

It could be bonding thing to get them back into their groove.

bombaysaffires 05-22-2014 09:20 PM

As Michele says, there's doubt about Christine's presence at all. But if she *were* there, maybe Stevie wanted her to see Dave in action in the studio to convince her how cool it would be to have him work on FM stuff ;)

Yes I tend to agree that perhaps Christine wasn't there after all, but am still holding out a little hope she might have been.
I also think it's a possibility that Stevie might have wanted Chris to see Dave at work, but if so, it would be in vain as she has since bonded with Lindsey again in the studio.
Whatever happens, I can feel the excitement beginning to take hold...

Well, Stevie has brought in Mick & Lindsey for her solo albums... Christine would be a logical step. Especially at this particular juncture. It would have been a great way for the women to bond again, and to exercise Chris' creativity. I'd give it a 50/50 shot that Christine will be on Stevie's album in some form or fashion. If she were to be on it, it would not be in a huge way. But it's certainly in the realm of possibility Chris could have contributed some keyboards on a song or two.

Didn't Dave Stewart at some point tweet a joke about having trouble setting up a piano? Maybe that was his "wink-wink" way of saying that Christine was in the studio.

I would love if Christine is on the record. I always loved the outtake of Oh Daddy where Stevie's vocal was more pronounced. The two ladies together could be gold!

I would never have thought to interpret it that way, but it makes sense now that you bring it up! Though has Christine ever been known to play an upright? I know I've seen plenty of pictures of her playing every sort of keyboard & grand piano imaginable, I've never seen her play an upright.

She played an upright on the road during the Tusk tour-- she used it on Sara, Not That Funny and I forget what else… watch the official video released for Sara (live performance) and you'll see it.

It's on the last boxed set release of Rumours. 35th anniversary?

Yes Louie, bombaysaffires is 100% correct. Also in 2013 Mick made a statement about us possibly hearing a song written by Christine and Stevie someday soon.
